Last week I picked up a Darne, Shotgun. 12 gauge, 2-3/4", choked Full and Imp.Mod. It was listed as a R11, but it does not fit the discription of R11's that I have seen on the internet. The barrels are 685 m/m (26 15/16 inches) swamped rib that is finely checkered. Pistol grip stock of French walnut, checkered. It is a replacement and very well done, The action is engraved and finish in a french gray, bores are bright, no pits. The safety is located on the left side of the frame, It is a small lever that rock back & forth. There is a gold inlayed F and S. The barrel flats show a proof of PT under one crown. Also it says: E. Jallas & co. (?) Suggeseure p

I believe the crown over PT indicates the French proof "poudre T". Check the material under Darne shotguns in the articles and useful info section on this board.

The reason it doesn't look like an R11 is that it isn't an R11-in fact, it is not a Darne.
It is a Francisque Darne. Jallas & Cie were the owners of the Francisque Darne in the 1930s. Francisque Darne, Regis Darn's eldest son, founded the firm in 1907, building similar, but, not identicle copies of the 1894 Regis Darne patent guns. Francisque Darne died in 1917, but the company kept on until 1955 under different owners.
I can't open the picture you have posted, but, with a clear photo of the barrel flats, I could grade and date it for you.
They are usually nice guns, by the way. Enjoy. Best, Ted

Hello. I just saw a R copy, with a lion and shield on the T lever with the letter FIX under it. It is a copy from St Etienne. Do you know who is the maker, any link between FIX and Francisque. FIX for "fusil fixe" ? Barrels J Breuil, punch mark like a pheasant or a parrot. Thank you very much

Bob--There's no accent mark on the e in Darne, as in your title. If there were, it'd be pronounced "darnay".
