This may have been asked several time before but doesn't become pertinent until you need one. I have a straight grip boxlock that may have a small crack, 1/4", coming straight back from the center of the top tang. It could be possible it's an irregularity in the finish but I have some concern. I would like to have this professionally evaluated and fixed if possible rather than having to restock the gun. Any suggestions?

If you could let us know what part of the country you're from, we might be able to suggest someone near you. If 'nh' stands for New Hampshire, there are a number of good choices in the NE.
The work of many master craftsmen can be seen on the 'Repairs and Restorations' album

You guessed correctly, I am in New Hampshire. The gun in question is straight grip GH Parker if that matters.

I have used Bob and Doug Fulton. He did such a nice job on the first problem I had, I had him fix the second gun I had with a problem. http://stockfixrs.com/

I second what Dave said about stockfixrs, and Dennis Smith also. There are step-by-step pics of Dr Bill Hambidge repairing a midline crack in a Parker on the 'Long Cracked Smith Repair' album http://www.picturetrail.com/gallery.fcgi?p=999&gid=17090409

I think the guy that did this work is still accepting clients, if you don't mind getting the gun back with a couple of itty bitty screws missing

That was great Drew ! At least that bolt does look "period".I suspect some dealers would say "factory repair"
