Case coloring is way too gaudy. More like Colt SAA style. Very incorrect for a Parker.
JR Looks good to me. You can always tone them down after the fact, but you can't perk them up. I've heard nothing but good reports on Mr. Graham's work, but the case coloring he's doing has way too much "khaki tan" for a Parker gun. It might look ok on some pieces but it's nowhere near correct for a Parker. Here's a good representation of what Parker colors should be, from Doug Turnbull's website. well lets be aware that mr graham apparently does much more fine work than just case coloring...
and lets refrain from beating down a mans fine work because you do not care for some picky, insignificant detail..
and for better or worse, turnbull is the commonly recognized go to guy for parker recoloring work..
if you aint got nuttin nice to say, den say nuttin, por favor...

Yeah, pretty horrible starting point. Getting close though. Thank you for your patience. Seems like 18 months to do a full body of work, and that’s for a gun that’s not gotten to a “too far gone” state.

my appologies for this thread here...
some of us are in need of skilled smiths like yourself to fill the shoes of the old time go to guys who are rapidly passing away...
my purpose was to make others aware of you for possible solutions to their gun repair, refinishing needs...
sadly, we have a few guys here who like to create controversy wherever they go...

Ed, I don't think it's a knock for John to note that the case hardening colors a particular gunsmith produces are inappropriate for a Parker, or other gun. Some people don't care if the refinishing they have done is correct and as close to Factory Original as possible. But many guys do, and that's the difference between a proper Restoration, and just plain refinishing. I note that there are very few gunsmiths who can turn out colors that look correct for the Syracuse Lefevers, which tend to be predominately blue, with ghosting around the edges and screw holes, etc.
Knowing that Mr. Graham produces case colors that would look correct on a Colt SAA is valuable information for guys who want that appearance. Most guys who do Color Case Hardening settle on a technique and particular combination of charcoal, temperature, quench, etc. So while no two will be exactly alike, we can predict who might give us a result that is close to what we desire. Then we are less likely to be disappointed when the parts are returned.
