That is what unlatches the bascule, or the part that raises, to open the breech.

Same as we all do; I have a lot of saved searches on some French auction sites. Also have a few friends in France that have similar interests and point out things to me they see. I just happened to be looking specifically for this stuff.

And for the value I think some of these should have I just think that those in France don’t bid high enough on them and there’s just not enough research on them yet for people to be excited about them. I hope to change that.

It is kind of neat though that nearly every gun I find (especially with the pistols I focus on) that the majority of them I never even knew existed before I get it in. There’s just not the research or compiled original documentation on these like there is on British and American guns. A good example of this is in a recent article of mine:

Jimmy, I had a '56 Chevy 210 that I made into a very nice street rod, back when I was in high school. I've had Camaro, Chevelles, etc., but that '56 is the one I miss most of all. If I ever find another clean one I'm buying it! I like it much better than the '55s and '57s.

May God bless America and those who defend her.

Aaron, that's a great story. It's hard to understand how this breech loader, so well crafted, could have been made two decades before they stopped making flintlocks in England.

Alright! Here are some full-length shots!

I think I am going to go with black backgrounds for a while instead of white.
