Dave: 49134 would be about 1903. Martin Diefenderfer, of Wood River, Nebraska won the GAH at Targets in KC with a Lefever that year
https://books.google.com/books?id=WUQhAQAAMAAJ&pg=PA337

I looked through the list of competitors at the 1904 & 1905 GAHs and could not find a RAS.

Serial number 37080, G grade, extractor, Damascus (walls were getting pretty thin at the muzzles), 30-inch barrels, shallow capped pistol grip, 7-ish lbs, original hard plastic (bakelite?) butt-plate....can't remember any more (haven't owned it for many years now). I think I had dated it to something like 1901 but.....too far back now.

Stallones,

Ithaca and Lefever are two completely different companies. The only relation they have to each other is that Ithaca bought the remnants of Lefever Arms Co. long after Dan Lefever was both disassociated with the company, and dead.

Ithaca made more double guns "branded" Lefever than they made with their OWN name. This tells you the esteem that both Ithaca, and the buying public, had for the Lefever name. (see Snyder's book for the full explanation.)

As such, doing the math given known Ithaca production of "Lefever" named models vs our rough estimates of the number which were Dan's design, one can see that 80% of all American guns ever made bearing the name Lefever have nothing to do with the man whose name they bear, were not his design, and were made decades after he was dead.

Ithaca simply 'pimped' the name.

No flies on an Ithaca Flues...they are nice doubles. But they have nothing to do with Lefever. And Dan Lefever had nothing to do with the majority of guns which bear that name.

This is why you will sometimes see people referencing "real" Lefevers. They are talking about the original ones.
