I like the engraved snout Angelo did on this piece. The dog does not appear undershot, a fault in pointing dogs. Many engraved dogs by others I have seen have shorter snouts with a more posterior nose giving the look of the genetic fault.

The oxidation referenced above is from the salt wood of 40 years ago.

I think you mean its from 40 years of salt wood, not 40 years ago?

It is from(as a result of) the salt wood fitted 40 plus years ago. That is what I mean.

Yeah, ok. Its more like 50 years, but I get the picture. Bottom line, and for Bob, is the metal pit preparation and the French Gray procedure enough to prevent further/future corrosion? It looks bad inside that action now, and any worse could see metal failure such as stress corrosion. Im no metallurgist but Ive been told rust never sleeps and a pit is from rust corrosion. I just hope the rusting process has been stopped and the metal stays sound for another 50 years. Will that be the case here?

You're a real humanitarian Buzz. Your concern for me is touching.
You and your two Egg Nog turd buddies have spent the last few months tearing down every aspect of this project
and ruining every thread I've started attempting to show the facets of this restoration.

Rest assured that master gunsmith Art Isaacson has probably forgotten more about Saltwood restorations than you'll ever know.
After leaving the navy in the early 70's he spent 25 years working for Browning.
I'll give you 3 guesses what he spent most of his career at Browning doing?

Here's an interesting video. A couple 3 years ago. My gun. Maybe you'll learn something.

You, holyjOe and lying keith have let your hate cloud your judgement when it comes to Master Craftsmen like Mr. Isaacson and Mr. Bee.
How stupid the 3 of you look besmirching the good names and reputations of these men.
Criticizing their intentions, their fine work, their skills and their methods.

Instead of going away mad, why don't you turds just go away.

Aha, another predictable Bob Cash unhinged junk yard dog meltdown. Actually, I mentioned Bee did a pretty good job on your gun and I did not bash him in any way. Sadly, however, he engraved an English Setter on your gun rather than a befitting junk yard dog. In addition, I said nothing about Art Isaacson or his quality of work. In fact, hes done good work for me in the past. You on the other hand, well thats a different matter....

Bob, Your restoration is inspiring. I have always heard that "salt wood" is like a ship wreak find. Very nice to preserve and restore function and beauty to really neat guns!
