Was out today at my favorite gunshop and saw an interesting shotgun.
A BC Miroku "My Luck". It had sideplates with nice scroll engraving and a very nice "capped" pistol grip.
To bad it had 26" tubes, otherwise it may have come home with me.
I had never seen one but had heard of them.

Sideplates or sidelock? Could have been a predecessor of the BSS sidelock. If a sidelock and priced right, you might want to reconsider those 26" barrels.

I would be interested to know what gauge and price tag it had on it. Not trying to scoop it out from under you. Just trying to learn a bit about value. Not one I'm likely to see often, if ever.

In years gone by I have seen a 12, 16, 20 and 24 gauge My Luck. I was able to buy the 24 gauge. These were the forerunner to the BSS Brownings. My 24 gauge seems to be a good quality and very functional SxS shotgun.

You know, once I saw the short barrels I really did not look at it all that good. Can not even remember the price.
It was at Mid South Guns in Wagram, N.C..
It was a very attractive gun, I especially liked the capped pistol grip. And had nice engraving.
Wood looked nice as well.
Contact Phillip Futtrel the owner, He can tell you all the details.

I don't think Miroku ever made any side plated boxlocks. As noted above, they made sidelocks under their own name before they did the BSS Sidelocks.

Nice guns. I missed out on a Miroku boxlock at a gunshow years ago, looked for all the world like an English Birmingham boxlock, but, better. I though for $400 something must be wrong, but, it was a sound gun, as a friend who didnt miss out later discovered.

Best,
Ted

Ted, I owned one like that: Marked Miroku Model M. Straight/splinter/DT/extractors, 12ga with case colored receiver. I thought the same thing: Looked like a very basic Brit A&D boxlock. Had the interesting factory chokes of IC/IM. Great pheasant gun. One of those that falls in the category of "wish I hadn't sold it". But I know where it is, and may try to recover it at some point.

I know where the one I saw is too, but, doubt that chance will come to me. His favorite gun.

Best,
Ted
