What was his name! Didn't hangout here much, and took such a battering from the SSMBBS Uggie & hound crowd. Always one of my favs - where is he now?

Not an entirely undeserved battering. He had some exageration issues.

Pete, Do you have proof they were exagerations?

I think it would be correct to say that Beans is not a master of the understatement. One of my favorite responses to a Beans Elsie post was when someone said, "It's only an Elsie, Beans--not a piece of the True Cross!" But he certainly has a fervor for LC Smiths. And as someone once said, there's no accounting for taste. Some people feel the same way about Model 21's.

He did have a penchant for white line spacers, it seemed every gun he owned was so equipped!
As for exagerations, I always got a kick out of how he went on about the LCs "superior engineering" in it's sidelocks, compared to, say, a Purdey seven pin intercepting sear lock. He constantly denied that a 'Smith was prone to cracking it's stock behind the lockplates, when we had photographic evidence of, well, lots of 'em that did just that.
The Lard patent trigger? Why, it was simply the finest mechanism ever offered up to humanity, plain and simple. Why couldn't you just see it?
But, Beaner was a good sport, and the board is poorer without him. Best, Ted

I really think this post needs to stop here, and not turn into another Bean's Bashing post.

Don,
He is a friend of yours, but you have to know that "exageration" was very polite way to describe many of David/Beans posts.
Beans is still floating around on some internet BBS's though I think he is using a differnet nom de net.

Well, I hope that scripture isn't a requirement here or we're all out of business. I'm an admirer of high-quality exaggeration and exuberance anyway. Wasn't it Chesterton who said something like all power comes from the control and direction of exuberance? I miss Beans. The more decent enthusiasts contributing opinions the better. They light up my day.

Beans did gas up the BBS with his exuberance, I miss him too.
