I hadn't considered the AyA. Do you have any photos of yours? I will add that to the research. I would like to hear more about what makes them more shootable in your experience?

Good point on the NID 10 gauge scarcity. One I looked at said in the description that there were only 574 produced. However the price was comparable to the Beretta. I've seen them much higher also.

I have a NID 10, like it a lot, however I use 1 1/8 oz target or 1 1/4 oz field loads, all under 1200 FPS. If I wanted to shoot 3 1/2 inch modern loads would choose the Beretta

With this gun being used for geese and turkey hunting, I would want the heavier loads. Appreciate the comments.

Just throwing this out there, have you considered other Spanish made shotguns, I have a Zabala Hermanos double 10, and a S. Sarreugarte double 10.

I've owned them both for several years, the Zabala now has 20" barrels with Brylie chokes, long story but my fault, the other has 30" barrels that have been opened up to IC, and light mod.

I shoot the heaviest reloads, and factory loads you can get with no problems, I mean what's the point of lugging around a 10 pound gun if you can't use it for what it was intended to be used for.

Thanks for your comment. Most of the Spanish 10's don't interest me at this point. I am looking for a Prussian Daly 10 that will weigh about 8 lbs. That will be my 10 for walking up birds and general use. The 3 1/2" 10 gauge will be a speciality tool for pass shooting and turkey blinds; the sledge hammer for big birds at potentially longer distances.

I would suggest looking for rarely seen 12ga 626 Onyx 12ga with 3&1/2" chambers or Browning Citori 12ga O/U with 3 &1/2" chambers. While you will not strain by carrying one the recoil with 89mm will be substantial. Are you sure you don't want autoloader like a Browning, Ithaca Mag or its Remington clone?

An 8 pound 2 7/8 10 gauge would be a delight for jump shooting waterfowl!

Good luck in your quest!

That is kind of tall order as most at that time would pick 12ga with heavy 1&1/4oz proof. Something 12ga like that from Brimingham w/o ejectors and with 70mm or 76mm chambers should be found quite affordably now. The short chambered 10ga of 8lb makes no sense to me.

I've got 3" and 3.5" 12 gauges that work fine...and other gauges too. The 3.5" 10 and 2 7/8" 10s have their place too. I don't have to pick one gun to fit all applications. I've done that many years ago and thankfully, I have options now. I can do it all with a 3" 12 gauge but I enjoy using different guns.

Bryan,
That is the angled frame like the one I was referring to. Nice gun.
