Full of questions today. This was my great grandfather's. Says Ricard & Co. and numerous markings on the barrel. I have done searches and only comes up with Wesley Richards, and know it can be that. Thanks for any info.

it a Belgium gun - may or may not be a play on the Richards name. It seems they used several variations on it

that name is not listed as a known maker on the Belgium gun site

Well,

You're at both ends of the Doublegun spectrum today. Think exactly opposite of your Daly. It's an inexpensive, Belgian made gun, considered "Spurious" by folks like Greener, as it was marked specifically to attempt to get folks to confuse it with better known quality Makers. Guns of this type are typically called JABC, or "just another Belgian clunker". The company that made it made better quality guns, but this one was made to a very low price point, and its quality reflects it. It's a wallhanger.

I prefer wood to plastic, leather to nylon, waxed cotton to Gore-Tex, and split bamboo to graphite.

Those I've seen were by Janssen Fils. Yours likely 1893-1898, and it does not carry smokeless powder proof
