Can any one tell me who made shotguns that were used as a fundraiser for the Ruffed Grouse Society. This one is a,sxs, straight stocked lightweight 20 gauge. The guy that I am dealing with says there is no name other than RGS on the gun. He said that his brother in law paid 1200 (at an RGS) dinner for the gun 20 years ago.Can anyone help me out?

I agree. However the owner doesn't have the ability to send them to me. The description is the one he gave. He is a very nice guy and trying to be helpful. His daughter is visiting this coming weekend I hope we can work something out. I have found several
photos of RGS guns, in about the same configuration, by at least two but I really think three makers. I was wondering if anyone remembered the RGS guns. I was already a member back then but
at that point all I could do is was drool over fine doubles.

Thanks Last Dollar. There is a reference to RGS custom order grouse guns that I found from around 1995 they were Uggies. I've
never owned a Uggie one but a guy I hunt with has had a pair of them for some time and they are trouble free.

If it is the RGS Uggie, they are great little guns. I have owned two. I can't resist buying them when I hold one ,but then quickly am reminded I can't hit a barn with gun that small. If I remember correctly I paid $1400.00 for the first one and $1800.00 for the second. I sold them both for about what I paid for them. They are quality guns with good eye appeal, if you don't like it you can move it on.

RGS has used various makers over the years for special runs of guns. Don't recall the details, but I picked up a Garbi 20ga boxlock, used, for our RGS chapter as a sponsor raffle gun. I also recall that there was a special run of RGS doubles, 20ga again, that were Uggie 75EX sidelocks.

Photos are on the way I think. The gun is Spanish. On the barrel it says American Arms RGS 1988 17. It is a 20 gauge box lock with a straight stock.

Larry,

I seem to recall that RGS also had a special run of some Kimber Valier sidelocks (Turkey) available as banquet/sponsor guns, maybe 15 years ago. The didn't do well in the US marketplace and were gone soon thereafter. RGS sold them off at a pretty hefty discount, if I remember correctly.

Does it have a ZH near the proofmarks??

Many of the American Arms guns from Spain were made by
