Holy smokes Joe, google hunting in Brazil and all sorts of web-sites pop up. This is from one of them;
Hunting is illegal throughout Brazil except in the southern state of Rio Grande do Sul. Traps are illegal and hunting must not be commercial in nature. However, Brazilian law does allow for animals to be killed in self defence, if they are dangerous or as an essential source of food for self or family.

I found this on the web:
"The total number of firearms in Brazil is thought to be around 17 million with 9 million of those being unregistered. Some 39,000 people died in 2003 due to gun-related injuries nationwide. In 2004, the number was 36,000. Brazil has the second largest arms industry in the Western Hemisphere. Approximately 80 percent of the weapons manufactured in Brazil are exported, mostly to neighboring countries; many of these weapons are then smuggled back into Brazil. Some firearms in Brazil come from police and military arsenals, having either been "stolen or sold by corrupt soldiers and officers."

Hunting was outlawed to protect endangered species. We can all guess on the results of this... Plus, to reduce the number of guns . No need to guess on this one. Brazil has more illegal guns and a higher murder rate than most countries, including war zones.
Hunting is now allowed on Rio Grande do Sul, just next to Uruguay. With more or less the same bird life, it should be a great place visit if /when a good outfitter opens a nice lodge/operation.
Quite a few Brazilian hunters come here to hunt -Portugal- and of course to neighboring Uruguay and Argentina.
( I've transit with guns in Rio and S.Paulo) in a word. Don't.

Sounds like a great business opportunity for someone.
Henrique, Brazil authorities pretty tough on transit hunters arriving with guns?

My company has a large operation in Brazil, and it's common for us to host a group of 20 or more Brazilians for events and meetings here.
One of our events includes a sporting clays shoot. It's amazing (and sad) to see grown men come to the US from Brazil and to learn they have never fired a gun in their entire life. They seem fairly accepting of the fact that in Brazil they cannot own guns (or if they can they think they can't).
It's also refreshing to see how eager they are to shoot, and how much they enjoy it. Most of them who stay in the US for an extended period of time end up buying a gun (usually a shotgun) and go shooting on the weekends.

Scary to read how close a total ban on guns came to passing. Beside various countries supporting a gun ban in Brazil we find the United Nations in the middle of the fray with dirty hands. Amazingly, our very own NRA spent considerable resources helping to defeat the ban. For further reading go to: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_politics_in_Brazil

It really does matter who we elect. Obama has signed on to the U.N. Gun Ban Treaty and it is there waiting for an anti-gun Senate majority to accept it. https://www.nraila.org/articles/20130925/obama-administration-signs-united-nations-arms-trade-treatyJoining or supporting the NRA is the cheapest and best Gun Insurance Policy you can buy.
A true sign of mental illness is any gun owner who would vote for an Anti-Gunner like Joe Biden.
