Anyone have any opinions on the laser checking on a Boyd's gun stocks or simple their stocks in general? I was pricing out a stock: circassia XX, with laser checking. Comes out to about $300. Its a low budget built, so if I can get a pretty nice stock for $300 it would be worth is to me, however I don't want to put bad checking on upgraded wood.

I got their XX claro about a month ago and It wasn't xx in my opinion. The laser checkering is good for laser checkering. Check your dimensions. I took the saleman's word for my stock and it didn't fit. You take your chances when you order one from them.

Do the laser checkered examples shown on their website appear burnt to you? I would like to see macro in-focus pics before making a decision whether or not this is what I want.

It appears burnt, but it's better than the photos. When I called they said they did it darker for the photos. With that said, you pay your money and take your chances.

So was it workable, or returnable? I know someone who got two stocks from them, and they fit perfectly, but they didn't have any checkering.
