I have just received my second RBL and could not be happier with both of them. My first is a Launch Edition 20 ga with exhibition Turkish walnut. Unbelievable wood on this. My new RBL is a 16 ga. with 4x American walnut and again it is a beautiful piece of wood. I have not shot the 16 ga. yet and and shoot the 20 well. My question is, is anyone not happy with their RBL's and why? Everyone has their personal likes and dislikes. If I could change anything, I would slim down the fore end but this is nitpicking. Geauga

As long as you're happy nothing else matters. Regards, Jeff

My 16 came with a buttplate and bored out buttstock, which I like for saving some weight vs. the pad system. It fits me perfectly, came with unexpectedly high comb, which saved me from the expense of having it bent. I'm real pleased with the standard wood. My only nit to pick is that the bluing has worn some on the left barrel near the breech, from carrying laid back over my right shoulder when pheasant hunting. I've used it a lot, but haven't seen this on my other SxSs after similar use. Jay

Any guesses on why these guns haven't held their value well on the used gun market?

I'll take a stab. Since most folks are familiar with the discounts offered for the early orders that's what they base their value on. I think you often see folks posting them for sale as if they had paid the non-discounted price. That's a tough sell, if you actually did pay the full price you're really going to have trouble. Essentially folks are trying to sell a used gun for more than they sold for new with the discounts. Price it at 20 percent below the intro price and they will sell.
CSMC special offerings get their value from the intro pricing, you can't match their guns for those prices, once you're outside that window there's better guns to be had.

I got all the RBLs as they were offered, all with straight grips, double triggers, slim forearms and 4x wood. The only fault I have with any is that the trigger pulls on my 20-gauge are just a bit heavy. Nothing one would ever notice hunting, but perceptible on the skeet field. I didn't like the feel and handling of the big heavy RBL-12 I originally got, but Lou exchanged it for one of the light-frame RBL-12s at 7 pounds 4.9 ounces and made me happy. My RBL-16 has become one of my favorite guns. I've hunted it a lot and shot a lot of skeet with it with my 7/8 ounce reloads. 16-, 20- and 28-gauges -- 20- and 28-gauges and .410-bore -- The RBL-16 along the Tucannon River, November 2013 --

I bought my 20ga and 28ga at the intro pricing, and they are a good value at those prices. CSMC seems to be a bit full of itself with their pricing structure as the guns mature in the marketplace. I like my RBLs, but I'd be hard pressed to rationalize paying more than the intro price for a used one. May be different 20 years from now, but at that point I won't care.
