Sirs,

I have seen a beretta sxs to which I can't find a name/model
It's a color cased ST with beaver tail forend side plates(?) looks in very good condition.
Age. following the usual protocol , number on the barrel is XX7 should be 1971, right?
The problem is I don't see anything like it from that period.
Could it be that the id has changed for some models or series ?
It doesn't look like a gun for the european market.

Olá Henrique ,
desejo-lhe as maiores felicidades na sua busca para encontrar a história sobre esta espingarda.
Mike

Sideplates is a tough one?

For photobucket, please post each picture seperately (and not the library) so they will appear.

The photobucket link doesn't show me anything, much less a picture of a Beretta shotgun. The 471 was a product of later times than 1971. Oh well.

Beretta 424 Series
They were introduced in 1950, and are still produced. The breech is forged from a single piece of nickel steel.

The Model 427 has hand-engraved side plates for the breech block that made to order.

For most of its production time, these shotguns were made with a choice of single or double triggers, but they are now made only with single triggers, and the safety catch doubles as a barrel selector.

Models 426E and 427 have automatic ejectors; Model 424 has a manual extractor.

Your gun is a Model 427. Mechanically the same as the 426E, with added Side Plates and Wood Upgrade. In 1971, the 42x Series was being marketed in the U.S. as the GR-2, GR-3, and GR-4. No Side Plate model was offered in the U.S.

The 42x Series guns were introduced in 1963 or 1964 - replacing the 409, 410, 411 Series - and were made until about 1982. The line consisted of the 424, 425, 426, 426E, and 427. The 424 was plain with extractors. The 425 added the Rib Extension Cross Bolt. The 426 was a higher grade with Engraving. The 426E added Ejectors. And the 427 added Side Plates.

The 427 replaced the 411E, and was replaced by the 627EL.

Yours is the first 427 I've seen Case Colors, and the first with a Single Selective Trigger.

Feel free to contact me with questions about Beretta Side by Side shotguns.
