Bret, not sure its necessary at this point, but, I very much appreciate the offer. After posting I exercised my Google fu skills and ran across this site which give a pretty good laydown: http://dayid.org/mediawiki/index.php/Reed_Vise

Another question I have is what is a realistic price to pay for these vises. On an earlier post there was a link to the Garage Journal where they are talking about .50 to a buck a pound. Looking at going prices on the Bay etc that seems slightly unrealistic.

Reason Im asking is that a local resale shop has what I believe to be a Reed 106 (non swivel). In addition to the restoration piece, I have a small horse ranch and that 106 would make a great grunge vise for all those ranch jobs that I dont want to take into the shop.

Ebay prices are much higher than craigslist or flea market prices, but the results are immediate, where you may have to hunt for a couple months. I had a 106 here, that I let a friend have for the $125 I paid. It had a 3/4 bolt for a handle, and needed cleaned up.
That price per pound thing is nonsense, with vises or anvils. They go up much faster as size increases. At some point in recent years, Reed went to 100 series numbers, with an R or S, designating fixed or swivel.

Sorry, these are not stocks they are rough patterns. Maybe you cannot tell.

Mabe you don't understand making patterns and leaving extra wood to be taken off during the final shaping.

Oh, that's right, you do not own a duplicator and don't understand the use of one.

And you think your comments would make me want to attend one of your seminars?

Time for me to leave this elite site. You folks have fun now.
