Thinking about buying a Richland arms 200 20 ga. I know, not a Purdey, but anybody have any opinions about these? Please limit yourself to actual experience with these, and hold back on rumored badmouthing, etc. Project gun--might build a 30-30 DR on it. I already did a 45-100 on a Merkel action that got me 100 lbs of wild pork. I figure the 30-30 is low enough pressure, that even Spanish non-greener actions will be OK.

The Richland 200s of my knowledge were made by Zabala Hermanos. They are acceptable guns. Firing pins are front removable and you might wish to redo the pins and plates to a smaller diameter for rifle conversion. Should work just fine, will you be doing barrel inserts or new barrel set? http://www.mcace.com/shotguninserts.htmMike p.s check with Gun Parts Corp, they may have an extra barrel http://www.gunpartscorp.com/Products/960420.htmYes, I know says Sold Out but sometimes a phone call will do miracles

lanny: popular wisdom says, best action for building a double rifle from a double shotgun is that it be: - european - 16 gauge - double under lugs - greener cross bolt least according to ellis brown who wrote a book on the subject. following is link: http://bundukipublishing.com/doublerifle.htm

But the base area of a 20 ga shell is about 3X the area of the base of a 30-30, so the face thrust(force=pressure x area) will be similar that of a 20 ga. Might just go and ask Bill G. at Numrich about barrels--it's about 5 miles from my house. But I might just go and rifle a set of 20 ga barrels, and make a slug gun. Need a winter project! PS: Used Ellis's book when I did the 45-100--you should have seen the boys at the gun club run for cover, when I showed up with the barrels held together at the muzzle with hose clamps, and shims for regulating shots!
