My last bow hunt for 2013 paid off pretty well.
Although it was cold...the wind was whipping (20+ mph) and it started to
rain...I was about 15 feet up in the crook
of a triple tree formation on the end of a hedge row bordering my back yard.
Yes.....I was effin freezing and about to call it a day.
I stood up for one last look-n-see...and there he was coming across the
field behind me.
The next 5 minutes were pretty tense...my adrenalin kicked in I wasn't cold
any more but it's hard to be vibrating and still at the same time!
I did my best to stay hidden and become one with the tree....It worked! Mr.
6pt crossed to my south as the light was fading.
Shot was about 13 yards...Deer walked behind a tree...I put my sight where
he would be on the far side....and as he meandered through....I let'er
rip....
Swhack!...I hit him right in the neck....He dropped there...not another
step.
The fun part was getting down and collecting my stand and gear...It was dark
by now and I called up to the house (about 500 yards to my east.)
My lovely wife came out with my daughter Mel and her friend Ty to assist me
getting the deer and the gear back to the house.
A thank you to Mel and Ty for carrying my bow and stand back to the house.
And a big big big big (I owe you one) thank you to my best friend and wife
Jody for helping me drag...Yes...Jody helped me DRAG the deer back to the
house.
(I only wish I had a video!)
If you know my wife...you realize what a big deal that is! She hates...cold,
rain, the dark, being outside between October & May, me hunting,....etc.
