I haven't seen a rifle that makes me drool as much as that one in some time!

That is a very different highwall. What caliber?

This highwall is a project I finished this spring. I got the wood from Tut, a member of the forum. The caliber is 30-06 with a rimmed case made from 9.3x74R brass. The action was once part of a Winchester musket in 22 Short.

Very, very nice. Who did the checkering? It is excellent for the style of the rifle. Could also mention the Schnabel (Spelling?) among other things. Just a pretty graceful rifle. Chuck

Thanks for the nice response. Aside from fitting the barrel, the work is my own. I had Dennis Olson machine the stock blank from a pattern I made. My idea at the outset was to make something with a vintage, traditional look to it but with some modern touches. I haven't shot it much yet, but it appears to do as well as I do with open sights. I want to hunt with it this fall. Every season I intend to use some rifle I never quite get around to. I'm just finishing up a kind of companion rifle to this one, another high wall in 22 Hornet.

Super rifle, Bill!
I'm surprised a musket .22 had the thick side action. I have a Pope high wall in 7.5 Swiss that should be about the same performance as your rimmed '06. But, I sure can't take mine hunting as it weighs about 15 pounds.

The barrel profile is really nice - who made the barrel and did you design the profile, or is it one of their standards? I like that "sharp shoulder" to the breech area - you see it with Hoffman and some other makers.
Beautiful rifle. The pistol grip treatment is really distinctive, and works great.
