I was recently able to purchase this Gibbs Farquharson.
It is a late top tang safety model from 1910 which was rebarreled to 256 Dutch Mannlicher in 1920.
It also has what remains of the special sight which is designed to retract into the comb of the stock. This feature was previously thought to only be on #973 and #974, the last two Gibbs Farquharsons made. This is #971.
As of now, I have the pleasure of waiting for my background check to complete. So in about a week, I will be able to take it home.

Colorado Bureau of Investigation does their part and since they have so few working the submissions, and so many submissions to process, it takes FOREVER!
I am even a CCW holder yet that is not a consideration here for some damn reason...

Many States are the call in point for the NICS check as opposed to the FBI NICS Center.

The State agency takes the info from the dealer,,does the NICS check call itself PLUS runs the info through what ever other data resource bases they want to.
They are checking more for local information that may have not (yet) made it's way to the Fed system.

I've been told by another FFL that Tennessee does it that way ... and also runs the firearms serial number for stolen in NCIC.
A NICS check does not run the firearms serial number,,they do not ask for the firearms serial number though it is on the 4473.

Awfully nice rifle BTW..!
