Bluing. As a matter of fact the gun was blue by the manufacturer. I would have prefer to keep the gun “grey” but… it is not up to me, you know the client is king.

So, was this a CSMC Fox? Or, an 'upgrade' from a lower grade Philly or Utica Fox?

Thierry:
Can you explain how you get the colors, particularly the blacks and browns? Are these metals other than gold and silver alloys?
The work is magnificent, but I'd think much of the detail, particularly the darker colors, will disappear when the gun is blued.
Thanks very much for sharing.

Actually I use, fine silver, cupper, and gold. Since I use fine silver (99.999%) it will not oxidize much during bluing, the cupper will become a little darker, and the gold will not change since it is 24 carats. As for the black, it is just shading. There is almost always a space between the edges of the pattern and the beginning of the shading, so the ornaments always appear clearly on a darker background (after bluing), as will the shading. The shading give an additional “color” it is also use to give volume and movement to the ornament.

Sorry, I take the picture before sending the gun back to CSMC and I did never get the pastures of the finish gun, maybe in their next catalog
