Nice find there Clay. I've seen images of a few including one with P. Oberhammer k.u.k. HofBüchsenmacher atop. Other upper rung waffenhändlers like Otto Bock and warehouse publications like AKAH & August Stukenbrok, Einbeck(1913) displayed a variant. Seems there was cross retailing between August Stukenbrok, Einbeck & Otto Bock, Berlin but I'd like to see the marks to see who the actual mechanic might have been. I have serious reservations that Otto Bock made much at all. GGCA has a couple articles in Nr. 27(Fall 2005) at page 20 & Nr. 31(Fall 2006) at page 10 where Jörg Schilling has made and is(?) making a similar version.
"Jörg uses a regular Mauser 98 action with a standard magazine box and a hinged floorplate, but replaces the original bolt handle with a custom-made one. The bolt sleeve with a three-position safety is flattened on the left side to clear the firing mechanism for the shotgun barrel. The front single-set trigger is pushed forward to set it."
Seems Axel & Kalle Pape/Shotgun Charlie did some digging and found that D.R.G.M.(Gebrauchsmuster) Nr. 62088 of July 13th, 1896 covers this odd combo sporting weapon. P. Oberhammer added his patented top tang aperture to the overall platform.
Kind Regards,
Raimey
