This ia a special order gun for a locally famous racecar driver, the gun was returned to Parker to have the rifle barrel factory fitted. I'll take pics tomorrow but may not be able to post them until Monday. I was asked for info but have never heard of a Parker cape gun before. Any info would be helpful. The friend who owns it says there is one reference to another Parker combination cape gun in a Parker book, but I no longer own that book. Thanks in advance.

Suggest you post this on the Parker forum. I'm sure it would generate a lot of interest over there

Robert, I'm not sure about Parker cape guns but I do own a Fox Sterlingworth cape gun in 12 gauge x 45/70 that appears to be a factory job.

Best Regards, George

Back in 2003, when The Remington Society did their annual seminar at the BBHC and Cody Firearms Museum, There was a Parker Bros. hammer cape gun in one of the displays. As I recall, the display card said it was made for some famous Army General of the old west. In the various early E. Remington & Sons doubles they offered cape gun versions, but later and in the Remington Arms Co. days they offered rifle barrel inserts. We have seen a Parker Bros double with one of these insets.

Within the last 7~8 years I was visiting one of the 'cowboy' museums in the greater Los Angles area, don't recall its name, but they had a numer of Parker gauge bore rifles in a case. There may have been a cape gun in there too, but I just don't remember. It struck me that they had some really rare guns in that display case with very poor descriptions of what they actually were. The museum had a lot of space dedicated to rawhide work, if that helps to identify it.

Chuck H. is probably familiar with it and can help me out here.

Some early Lefever catalogs list combination guns as well as double rifles & a 3 bbl gun. On this one the rifle bbl is on top in the rib rather than the usual underneath poition. As I recall one of these was pictured in an older Gun Digest from John Amber's collection, don't remember which year.

Robert,

Yes, please also share on the Parker forum as well if you are a member over there.
Parker did make some factory cape guns. Even some drilling style guns have popped up, but those may not be factory. Posting up some pics and telling us the Serial number would help in telling if it might be factory work. Is it sHammer gun or hammerless? Is the rifle insert permanent or and removable tube?

Back in the 70's at a local gun show there was a high grade Parker with one rifle barrel.I can't remember what caliber but the Parker was a AH in clean, well used condition with a hefty price tag for the time.Seller was a dealer from Nebraska or Kansas.

Sorry for the delay, Thanks to all for your responces. The Parker DOES NOT look like a factory job to me but the previous owner and the current owner seem convinced the gun was returned to the factory. I highly doubt it. Both are ADVANCED collectors, so who am I to say...A Lefever was traded for it, Ill post photos of that as well...The Parker first...then a few other Parkers from his collection to show he's no beginner...
