Was dove shooting Saturday (actually got a double which is rare as I'm at best adequate with a shotgun).
The gun was my 1899 Dickson round action using the "made by another" steel barrels produced in the UK five years ago. Fired about 40 cartridges and noticed at about halfway through that the right ejector was not kicking hulls out.
While cleaning the gun found that the ejector was hanging up about halfway through its length. Might have gotten some crud in there, or maybe the shaft is slightly bent. Used solvent and then oil and worked the ejector back and forth many times. While it eased its movement somewhat, it still is much stiffer than the left ejector that properly just slides back and forth.
Grateful for advice.
Regards, Tim

First remove the extractors and clean , see that they push in and out smoothly . If they do and there is still a problem then take the gun to a competent gunsmith . Dickson ejector work can be a problem and it is quite easy to make it worse if it is not approched correctly . There are several things that can go wrong but it is all inside the gun mechanism .It is also a fact to be faced that putting it right can be expensive as parts may need to be made .

It sounds like the extractor may have got burred up by hitting the extractor stop hard.I would take it out and remove the burr then re harden and temper it to make sure it is hard enough for this to not happen again. Also check the extractor stop for burrs which may hold up the extractors and do the same to this.

Grateful to all for suggestions and possible fixes. Thanks to Dan Morgan instructions, managed to get the extractor out of its track, cleaned and checked the track with no joy. Still sticks.
Sent the gun off to Dan this morning to fix that problem, examine some problematical screws, and give the action a good cleaning.
Will report on results.
Regards, Tim

Tim, Dan's good, but not as good as a good Brummy. Only teasing Tim, tell me how you get along with Dan & his work as it is important for his assessment on the Free Guinness at the CLA scale.

Salopian, Dan is not as old, crusty, profane, and unintelligible as a good Brummy, but he certainly deserves that Free Guiness. His work is top notch. Justin
