BB, A Beretta from Etchen would be my choice if I wasn't ready to commit to a P-gun yet. Only problem is Beretta's are not available in 32" bbls in 28 ga. Most Berettas in 28 ga. are on a 20 ga. frame and don't weigh much over 6 1/2 lbs., not conducive to extended target shooting. You can sometimes find 30" 28 ga. bbls. for a 12 ga, frame and make up a 7 3/4-8 lb. gun. JR

My K20 28 gauge 32" comes in at approx. 8 & 1/4 lbs....I don't think I would want to go less than 8lbs on the dot if you were going to shoot anything over the standard 3/4 oz 28 gauge loads.

As I recall, the 28 gauge flyer events restrict the shell to 3/4 ounce loads. I can't remember the restriction in .410 events.

"Not a fan of K-Guns" really has nothing to do with the K-20. I've shot a half dozen big frame K-Guns over the years and the K-20 isn't anything like them. In my diminished physical condition, I would give up all my big K-Guns for a nice K-20.

Why hasn't anyone suggested Briley tube sets? Not sure what your 12 gauge gun is but you could get a set of Briley full lenght tube sets with choke tubes and keep your same feel of your 12 bore gun. I personelly never shot flyers with a 28 bore and never saw the event. Always did the 12 bore event.

if going with Perazzi, I would try to seek out someone who has a Perazzi 12 gauge frame with 28 gauge barrels, if you haven't already. I had handled such a gun at Giacomo's shop in April. I had asked about what subgauge barrels felt like on a 12 gauge frame and Dan took a new MX8 sporting gun he had and slapped 30" 28 gauge barrels on it, with half ventilated ribs. It felt like dead weight, definetly not "lively" and seemed heavier than my K20. But I don't know what kind of handling dynamics you prefer...
Has anyone had positive/negative opinions on the Perazzi subgauge barrels fitted to a 12 gauge frame?

Murphy is right again. The K-20 is everything the K-80 is not. It's pretty lively, although still a bit heavier than a Citori XS in 20 ga.
The XS Sport in 28 ga is an excellent target gun. If you like a lighter gun, that might be the way to go. I see them on the used market frequently. A shade over 7 lbs.

I have a Browning XS Sporting in 32" 28ga. Seems like a great place to start.
