A nice Wesson, made in Springfield, MA. It could be called rare as only around 230 were built. Not all were serial numbered, but all I have seen were engraved and had the patent info stamped on the water table.

Would it be possible to post some additional pictures?

Interesting Mike. I believe Salter listed the (possibly U.S. produced) 3 Iron Crolle barrels 2-3 years ago, with better pics thereof

then

now

and without the Laminated Steel barrels

that DO have what appear to be legit Wesson marks

By the terrible fit of the crolle barrel's rib extension, possible the Laminated barrels were the original??

I'm fortunate to have s/n 45 of this batch of Wesson guns. The workmanship is definitely first rate. If you look closely at all the photos still available on Joe Salter's site you can see similar sets of marks on the underside of both sets of barrels. How the rib extensions got so sadly bunged up is a mystery.

Something terrible happened to that doll's head - before

Steve - are your barrels crolle or laminated steel?

Drew - the barrels on mine are much closer to the herringbone pattern than that open crolle. I'll get some pictures and post 'em here in the next day or so.

Thanks Steve - Wesson with Laminated Steel which, on reflection, may be the same pattern as the Salter gun.
