Hard to make sense of prices at a gun show when you don't know value of things...
I went to a gun show today and found two double rifles made by Kersten in 9.3x74 caliber. Both in pretty good shape, one more ornate than the other. They seem to be well made. How much would they be worth on average basis? Both had the original scopes and both from the 1910's.

With rings and scopes are definitely a plus. At least one sold at a recent auction and I can't recall the exact amount but I think it approached $4k U.S. of A. Realized values on egun probably will be a little lower. I would say function is essential on these birds as repair can run into some change. The Cuckoo Clock drilling that Recoil Rob located and that Baumgarten attempted to lay hands in an effort to rectify 2 Wilhelm Brenneke offerings, is one such example: http://www.doublegunshop.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=206766&page=1 .

Gustav Kersten of Strassburg - http://www.germanguns.com/questions.html , Karl Friedrich Phillip Stendebach(Fr. Stendebach, Waffen und Geschossfabrik) - http://www.google.com/patents?id=xnBkAAA...p;q&f=false , August/Richard Schüler Herkules-Doppelbüchse DRs surface from time to time for sale with their unique lockups and all were an attempt to address the strength of the evolving Nitro powders. In almost all cases these designers subed the bulk of the task to master mechanics and the retailers may have added some final embellishment.

So which lockup of Gustav Kersten of Strassburg might if have been, Gustav Kersten, Mod IV?

One of them had the same locks as pictured on the Germanguns site.
THe other more embelished one had a system similar to the SKB locks with a crossbolt. There were two knuckles where the barrel extensions would go in on a rather small frame otherwise.
Prices asked were 10K for one and 13 for the other.

I forgot Behr, and I'm sure others. Hailing from Hamburg he filed for some type of trademark in 1902 under No. 56468.

1906 application for lockup - http://www.google.com/patents?id=1od-AAA...p;q&f=false

I can't remember if his first name was Burkhard or what. How do you fancy that jeweling, Axel???

Schilling forge mark with pre-1910 Suhl hallmarks such as the voluntary semi-smokeless test.

Unique Gustav Kersten.

One will see a Vierordt offering from time to time seeing Gustav Kersten and Vierordt of Kehl am Rhein had a joint venture but by 1910 the 2 experienced a very messy divorce. Vierordt of Kehl on the Rhein was peddling motorcycles about the same time. They were also in bed with DWM.

Sounds like they are asking a value about a multiple of 2 over their realized value but a unique action might warrant more.

1907 Advert

Interesting 1907 advert where I think he notes that he took Friedrich Stendenbach to task up to the highest court in the land.
