Hi all, what can anyone tell me about this maker and the Progress model? I know they make darn good double rifles, but how are their SxS's?

Thanks as always!!

Greg

Greg,
I've seen them a couple of months ago at IWA Nurmberg, very nice, but have no actual experience. On the other hand my champion is the other Chapuis, Pierre Artisan.
With kind regards,
Jani

Thanks, JC!

The first one is Armes Chapuis, the new rounded body;

The second one is Armes Pierre Artisan (Pierre Chapuis).

Both are double rifles but their respective shotguns are made on similar plan.

With kind regards,
Jani

I'll have to concur with JayCee on the Armes Pierre Artisan.

Very nice Jani.

Kind Regards,

Greg - I kicked the tires on this gun a bit in my search for a round-body/round action sxs. Lots of happy Chapuis rifle owners out there but fewer sxs owners - the few I did come across seemed happy with their guns.

The RGP Progress and Artisan are round action (Blitz action) with scalloped frames. They seem to have upgraded the engraving in the past couple of years. There is an older (but still new) RGP Progress for sale on William Larkin Moore's site and it looks a bit pedestrian compared to the newer version.

Heirloom Armes imports them as well as WLM - Heirloom's prices seem to be better but I spoke with Dale recently and the exchange rate was forcing him to adjust his pricing. He had the RGP listed for $2600 - which seems like a great deal for a true round-action (cheaper than an RBL, which is not a true round-action) but I am not sure if that pricing still holds. Of course there is also the question of servicing, as Chapuis does not have a presence in the US.

Such a long, long time to be gone, and a short time to be there.

No experience with this maker but I've always wondered how the name should be pronounced.

French experts, what say you?

anyone have experience with their O/U guns? I keep drooling over the ones I see on Griffin and Howe's website, the 20 gauge O/U.
