Originally proved for black, Birmingham between 1887 and 1904. Reproved to Nitro, Brum, 1952. Looks like some honing was done between proofs.
I'm no Greener expert, but the table I have shows the SN as 1883. Original marks appear to be 1887 rule. Maybe this one laid about for a bit before it was finished up.

Thanks 400, Would the honing explain the 15 mark vs the 15 in the diamond? or is backboring a different process?

Yes, honing would explain the "15" marks vs. the later "16". Probably done to clean up the bores. Backboring is done for a different reason. I avoid both unless necessary.

My WW Greener 16g is #30600 and was finished in 1887, after a few years in the works. - Jani

Very cool Jani, what is the configuration? Do you have any photos of it?

Acording to the present Mr. Greener, #30600 was the best grade non-ejector of the time (started in 1884, finalized 1887). Sculptored breech, finely scroll engraved; side safety, straight stock with horn but. Originaly the barrels were 30 inch but later new 28 inch steel barrels were made by Gray & Co. of Inverness. Sorry, no pictures available. My second 16g Greener is #32103 (circa 1890?). This is a Royal grade (non-ejector) made for the German market (marked for Leue, Berlin on rib). Later pistol grip stock, shortened barrels ... but still a good shooter. - Jani

Nice Jani. Too bad no photos. I'd love to see them.
