Hello All
Using an antique Sony Mavica FD73 with its 3 1/4 disk format
and lights in the bathroom, this is as good as I could get

a Dog on my Paragon grade Baker

jOe, your picture of that center draft lock is very similar to the early Syracuse L.C. Smith hammer locks that stayed into production in Fulton and was changed in 1899.
That set up is almost identical. I refer to them as a 5 pin 2 screw lock but it is a Center Draft Lock or bar action.

What is this from, it looks to be a high quality gun.

Beautiful gun, Joe. I'd love to see more pix of it with that same photo quality. I bet I'm not alone.

Keeping it simple. I just use a good point and shoot camera, hand held, set on a high resolution (important), and use a combination of ambient light and plain old incandesant bulbs. I normally shut off the flash. Use a good photo editing program (very important). It works and that's about as complex as I want to go. (Williams and Powell, Liverpool, ca. 1875? The scrolls in the engraving are so small they have to be magnified to appreciate.)

That's a great shot that shows that beautiful gun detail very well. Great depth of field for a macro shot. Some PnS cameras do a great job of macro work. I had one, maybe still do, that was hard to beat with my Nikons and much easier to use to get a decent pic. Less equipment too.

This pic was shot a number of yrs ago with that PnS camera using a desk lamp for light.

You have encouraged me to have a play with some close up lenses I had for Christmas. I still need to think about the lighting more and if I used my tripod I could shut the apperture down a bit to increase the depth of field.
Photos of my Perrins - circa 1870 - was a 14 bore - now a 16 bore. They certainly went to a great deal of trouble adding detail that you could only see with a magnifying glass.
