I need the safety installed and checked for function on a Valmet O/U--just don't have the tools and self confidence to do it myself, although I DO have the replacement parts.

Any suggestions within 30 or so miles of northern Orange County? This just needs a competent double guy, not somebody "formerly of Holland's".

Is Bolsa Gunsmithing still in business? I seem to recall their location in the Westminster vicinity. I had some guns refinished there about 25 years ago. They did real nice work.

Try Bob Day at R&D Custom Barrels in Pico Rivera, 562-923-3608. Or Pete Stepanski at Bain & Davis in San Gabriel on Valley Blvd. Freddy Brunner is still in Escondido and Jack Dockweiler is still working in Redlands in his shop at the Redlands Trap & Skeet Club. I have used them all with success, and I know Bob Day worked on a Valmet a couple of years ago because I helped him look for parts. He's probably also closest to you. Bolsa is still in business and I know guys who have been happy with them. There's also Joe Shiozaki at J&S Custom Stocks in Azuza.

I have asked them about work in the past, but they seem uninterested in simple repair jobs and then quote stratospheric prices (I'm very familiar with that response from gunsmiths, and understand some of their reasons. I finally just did the work myself, but in this case I think not). I'll try them again if nobody has an alternative.
