JD, just as an FYI, when FZ came out with his barrel irons, I did a review of them and tried one on a barrel that had been previously made up for my td high-wall to fit what was assumed to be an original iron. In that case, at least, the indexing was perfect, and since Winchester made their barrels on a thread mill to index alike, and since Frank did his irons on CNC after reverse engineering them to the specs he made off several originals, I think we can safely assume an original barrel will turn right up unless it has been altered. They are pricey all right, but in this case, at least, you can expect to get what you pay for... top quality. I had to wait longer than I had hoped for Frank to complete the project, but once done, it was as well done as all of his work, which I have found to be superb. Usual disclaimers, no financial connection, just a satisfied customer!
Regards,
Froggie
PS Laurie, wasn't Mike Hunter or one of the other restorers saying he had the barrel roll marks for the 'walls?? If you are doing a recreation, that should do OK, I would think. GF
