Recently bought a 16 ga. Husqvarna hammergun with the lefaucheux under lever action. Thought it was a Model 20 but after some google searching I see that Husky also made a Model 17 that looks just like it. Was wondering what the differences are in the Model 20 and Model 17. My gun was built in 1942. Doesn't really matter what model she is I find she's a delightful little gun smile. At 6 lbs. 8 ozs she feels nice in my hands and am sending the barrels off the Mike Orlen to be opened up and will refinish her stock. Dreaming about walking up to one of my setters on point and taking a nice red ruffed grouse with her cool Here's a couple pics of her.

Not the prettiest gun in the safe but my first hammergun so she's pretty unique to me.

Thanks Tunes. Looks like the Model 17 has edge engraving on the lockplates. Mine is plain so I'll call her a Model 20 grin. Ran a box of 2 1/2 inch roll-crimped reloads through her this after noon and dusted most of the clays. She goes to the pattern board next, but will still probably have her opened up some.

If you want to see lots of these guns and I mean lots google Tradeex Canada, cheap 22s and centrefire sporting and target rifles. I understand that Swedish or Danish government were taxing gun owners guns, so guns got turned in by the hundreds of owners who were no longer using them. Most hammer guns are the ugly Lefaucheux lever type, the top lever type have been snapped up from Tradeex, a Canadian firm

On the water table you should find the model number.
The model 20 and 17 are almost the same guns, except for some small details. Engraving is one but also the hammers will vary over the models and even in the same model the parts can vary. Husqvarna bought a lot of parts from outside Sweden (Belgium) and there was no standard for these parts. If a parts finished an equivalent was put in place. For example; in the year 1901 there was a slightly modified version of the model 20. The beautiful collar hammers were replaced by simple hammers.

Model 20 was manufactured until 1946 in about 50.000 copies.
An odd model was the model 20A, which is only produced in 1943. The difference was that it had a pistol grip.
The last variant was the model 20B, produced in 1944-1956, approximately 28.000 copies. Model 20B had a pistol grip stock in walnut or red beech. At the end of the production the barrels are also made of special steels called specialstål.
In total Husqvarna produced around 80.000 model 20. Add to this the model 17, which in principle is the same gun in a more lavish version, the total number of copies is approximately 90.000. Until 1956, when production of the Model 20 had stopped Husqvarna produces approximately 235.000 Lefaucheux weapons. The model 17 and 20 was actually around 38 percent of the total number of Lefaucheux guns manufactured by Husqvarna.
(This information comes from a article written by Fredrik Franzén, a Swedish author specialized in Husqvarna guns)

I will try to post some pictures of Husqvarna toplever hammer guns I recently bought.

I sent a set of bbls. to Mike Orlen last june 3 rd. after 5 mos. I called and he said he will ship that week, after that this promise was repated many times! After many calls and emails he now will not answer his phone or reply to emails.
He has had my bbls. for over '9' months and I wonder if I well ever see my bbls. again!!!

That warning was just in time for our OP. Word has it that Mike Orlen is the latest example of a gunsmith that has lost his marbles and his rolodex.
