Bill,
BTW, anytime you need some pix posted, send them to me in an email.

All,
There was a Sarasqueta sxs try-gun at G&H a while back. I think it was a non-firing gun. Was pretty cheap if I recall.

I am with Chuck on this one. Modern adjustable combs and buttplates can be adjusted easily into all kinds of configurations. Cast, Pitch, LOP, Drop etc. Easy peasy.

Why try to build something that is a hundred year old technology when the new stuff is easier and better?

At my gunfitting I used both SxS and O/U try-guns. They will give close but not the same numbers. So, if you do end up using the Beretta you'll be good for O/U but maybe not for SxS's.

My fitting gave my stocker a starting point and I was given the gun to shot for a few weeks at which point it was returned to my stocker who did a little fine tuning. I shot it again and then it was finished.

My problem lies in reconciling my gross habits with my net income.

Rob,
I haven't fleshed out a dimensional difference between my sxs and o/u or auto guns. It could be my consistancy is just not that refined, since I don't shoot a lot or seriously, except for hunting.

But, I'm interested to hear how and why there are differences. Can you elaborate on your experiences?

O/U by design are set up to shoot a little higher if I remember correctly. So stocks have to have this taken into account when fitted vs sxs.

I understand that some shooters prefer to have their guns setup to shoot at various height's above the line of sight, however, I believe that is just personal preference on setting up the gun and not specific to one type or the other. I have friends that like all their guns, whether sxs or O/U, set to shoot higher than I like.
