You have a great attitude. Chop it, paint it, take it apart, do what ever you want to it before you hang it on the wall. It is actually in better shape than my 1st vintage sxs was. I was shocked when some one told me it was unsafe. Sorry now that I did not keep it around. We are all here to learn from each other and our own adventures. I have had guns restored that most likely did not deserve it. But I learned in the process.

A modern coach gun is not hard to acquire. Look for a Baikal or Stoeger. I am sure others can recommend even more names. You may develop a "taste" for the vintage guns that so many of us here care about.

After looking through the Damascus website, I think I may try to clean this thing up for display! I was going to leave it as is for the primitive look, but man, some of those Damascus barrels are pretty!

your barrels are not damascus though. They should be marked "armory steel" or "Fine laminated steel".

I'd leave the clunker as is.

It at least has some history and character as it is.

Really? I thought they were damascus...LOL

Where do I look for the barrel marking as I can find anything on them now?

What you thought said "Pine" laminate" Is really "FINE" laminate" on the crown of the barrels.

Haha...it's all so clear now! LOL

Oh well, it still looks pretty cool. Maybe I'll just leave it as is and look for a nice coach gun for a shooter/home defense.
