Have other gunmakers made Westley Richards-style droplocks?
Has anyone ever seen one?
I thought an Italian produced a few, but I'm not sure.
Thanks

A&S Famars used to make one - the "Tribute". It is no longer listed on their website. William Larkin and Moore still have a description and picture of one on theirs: http://www.williamlarkinmoore.com/famars.html"Tribute Drop Lock The Tribute is built on the Westley Richards style removable lockwork system. A supremely elegant gun, classic in style with thoroughbred lines. The locks, hidden beneath the removable floor of the action are a wonder of simplicity with each lock having just four moving parts. The floor of the frame, released by a small positive latch is so well made that neither water or oil can penetrate the joint. The actions are scaled to size and options are spare locks, single trigger and automatic safety. Chopper lumps barrels are standard."Best, Mike

Also Charlie Pfleger at Hill Rod and Gun had a Japanese copy. This is from his archive and has good pictures. Appears to be very well finished. http://www.hillrodandgun.com/archive.phpWESTLEY RICHARDS, COPY - JAPAN I have come across a copy of a Westley Richards single trigger drop lock. I believe the gun to have originated in Japan based on the only marking on the action flats. The barrels for a variety of reasons have left them too thin to shoot - min wall of .009" and sleeving is needed perhaps a set of Briley inserts. The copy is an excellent one and separate from the engraving and lack of proof marks I could not tell you this was a fake. All tolerances and stock dimensions are outstanding in every way. 29" engraved tubes, 14 1/8" highly figure wood with strong fiddle back to horn butt plate. Action is fully engraved retaining weak case colors and features a Westley single selective trigger and hinged floor plate - action is need of re-jointing 6lbs 5 oz. Sold Picture
$2200 Best, Mike

The most expensive pre-war Gebr.Merkel double gun. I got DR (mod.128 or 131?) some time ago, unfortunatly fore-end been lost, but it was perfect instrument for killing big game. Wood was extraordinary one - the Hair of Venus! No photos unfortunatly due virus on my pc.

Famars made one for William Powell as part of the Heritage Series. Check it out. Very well made. http://www.gun-vault.com/Guns%20for%20web%

I have seen droplocks in Lebeau-Courally and J.B. Ronge catalogs. Anybody who have seen one of this? Who was first with the idea?
