Frame was probably made sometime in 1935. Does anyone have a guess on the percentage of 21's for which Cody has no data?

Those aren't a lot of pictures to get a good idea of what you have there. As the poster says, it is quite unlikely that the jeweling is factory original unless your gun was factory upgraded. This serial number is very early for Cody to have information. However, give them another chance, explaining that your gun appears to have been upgraded or repaired at a later date than its manufacture. You may get more information.

Lets see the water table, and the barrel markings.
I agree, the engine turning does not look factory and the turning on the forearm iron is not normal.

The action looks like a tasteful redo. If that's so the chance of metal enhancement in hidden places being factory is next to nothing. I would say some hombre poodled up that gun pretty good.

In 1964 I sent sn 196 or 194 back to the factory to have a single trigger and ejectors installed. I also ask for a new stock with checkard panels like a trap grade. The gun came back with the frame reblued and a new beavertail with the diamond pattern.I have no doubt they would have engine turned the flats and forend if I had ask. The engine turning looks factory and with that low sn and the diamond pattern and the brace it my have gone back like mine.

AW, I agree, it is possible to likely that the work was done at Winchester. That's why I suggested getting Cody to reexamine the records.

The more I look at the pictures the more I think its a factory redo.
Look at the frame reblue, its sure looks factory and also the forend.
The engine turning looks like the three customs we have, two of which I had made in the custom shop. One I still use and the other two my son uses. His two can be seen in Neds book on page 118 and 318.
