I am seriously contemplating having the bbl's of my Baker Leader professionally rust blued. I would greatly appreciate any firsthand knowledge of competent gunsmiths who will accurately re-create the proper finish and look of the original rust blue.

Thanks,
Marc

Mr. Fewless did the barrels of my Greener FH25. My only complaint is that the barrels dont match the gun, they look like Purdey barrels instead of Greener barrels now. Hardly a real complaint, I couldnt be happier with the job he did.

Now Glenn, check your email, I need your help and expertise again ;-)

In looking at the Greener barrels,I believe Mr. Fewless has too much ammonium Chloride in his solution. Ask him to cut it or dilute it and you should get the more blue color that you are looking for.

Stallones,
You misunderstood my post I should think. The barrels are perfect, the polishing, striking, all of it. The color is perfect. My intent was to say that the gun is a mid-grade gun with flawlessly finished barrels. They are 10x better than when they originally came out of the Greener factory. Glenns rust blue is so good its scary.

Yes, I did misunderstand and thought they were too black rather than a Blue undertone. I do barrels for myself and that is a problem on older guns. Sometimes they should be worked down with fine steel wool to look the age.
