I found these pictures of Roger Barlow picking up a BSA martini that Wilbur Hauck stocked and barreled for him at Wilburs shop in Arlinton VT. The was written up in Gun Sport July 1960 and Guns & Ammo June 1962. Just thought I'd share, Paul Driscoll

I guess most of Roger's rifles are accounted for, but what about that one? I wonder how he arrived at a solution for seating bullets in .22 WMRF cases?

Neat posting, hammer! That rifle looks like a rifle should, the shop looks like a gunshop oughta, and the Mercedes looks like a car, not a toaster oven. I'm also a great fan of the .22 WRM, one of the best things that happened in 1959 (Take me back!).

I visited a shop there many years ago while cruising Rte. 22 on my way to Rutland; wonder if it was his. As I recall, it was too near supper time for the owner to spend much time with me, although I did buy a set of Lyman 310 dies from him (for a song--who wants those old things anyhow....). When did Hauck leave VT? I don't think that proprietor was him; it would have been in 1987.

Interesting that he chose an International action rather than the earlier version. I like the stocked to the muzzle look, something rarely seen on a custom Martini.

That IS a Mercedes, isn't it? (On second look, I'm not as sure as I was at first....slick ride, anyhow!).

Looks more Alpha Romeo than Mercedes to me. However, I am no authority. Knowing what I know about Roger Barlow, it is probably neither and is some make we've never heard of.

We're getting pretty far OT, but is it perhaps a Lancia? Not one I'm familiar with, but they made plenty of specials and one-offs back in the day.

Back on track--I wish I'D thought of a .22WMR varmint rifle back when BSA International actions were fairly reasonable....what a good idea!
