Greeting folks...new member here. I'm a WWII German firearm collector and recently purchased a Luger from a son of a WWII Vet. While we were making the deal he mentioned his father brought home two shotguns. These are "no-name" shotguns and I'd like to find out a little more about them. Both are 16ga. From your excellent posts, I've found out what the proof marks stand for. My hope is that someone can at least indicate where and if by whom the shotguns were made. Both are "Nitro" proofed.

Shotgun number one:

Shotgun #2

1st hahn shotgun w/ the Pagoda A of AH would be Heym, noting effort by August Heym of Suhl.

The 2nd one passed thru the Suhl proof facility in the final state so for now I would hazard a guess it was a Belgian gesteck or parts kit or was sourced from Liege so the LH1 may point to a Liege mechanic.

Cheers,

Raimey, for gun #2 LH I found this:

LH seul ou avec des branches de laurier Halleux Louis

LH alone or with Laurel branches. Many thanks Wolfgang and yes Louis Halleux was a prime suspect as a possible Liege mechanic, who was registered w/ the Liege proofhouse from 1904 - 1922.

Any chance of pleasuring us w/ additional images of all the area of the flats and the area along the lower rib alongside the tubes up to the forend hanger of the 2nd example?

Cheers,

Also, from what I see they both passed thru the Suhl proofhouse between 1912 & early 1923.

Prusakowski,

Very nice 16 Gauge German Hammer Guns, great pick up for sure. Raimey is correct! Great to have the Suhl Proof House marking on the guns.
