Friend Inherited a 94 in 38-55. Bore looks burned out, short of relining it any sugestion..can send to Jesse’s reboring and get I back in half of the time compared to a resleeve. At far less cost. to make i worse he wants to kill something in the peoples republic of California so it needs to be something a copper bullet is reloadable in..

Also note.imo Jesse is a FIRST CLASSGUY

Reline or rebarrel are your only options, in my opinion.

Yes, JES is fast. But you have nothing viable to rebore it to.

I had JES rebore a .32 WS marlin to .38-55. It is relined now.
Do I assume correctly that this 1894 Winchester is a "notch above" the usual well-worn "deer rifle" No "Swiss cheese" drilled and tapped holes for a scope, etc. 24" barrel, possibly partially octagonal? Tang sights??

Maybe Jess could sleeve the existing bore to .32 Special--?? Just "spit-balling" here. RWTF
Could I get contact info on this "Jess" guy. I have a 7x57 guild gun that has a washed out bore. Maybe some satisfaction comments alos?

The only thing this .38-55 could be rebored to would be custom chambered calibers. There have been some rebored to .40 caliber to create a .40-55, but then you'll need custom reamers, and custom dies. No time or money saved there, so not a good option to me. It only saves putting a liner in the barrel, and I'd rather line it back to original caliber to keep it's value higher.
JES is here smile

Now for a burned out barrel, I would suggest a GREAT cleaning, often the rifling is covered up by copper/lead and looks washed out. But upon GREAT cleaning, the rifling appears again smile
Jess has done two rebores . The second barrel had a bad .222r chamber and we didn’t know it. After he rechambered it I was getting bulged brass. I compared it to the original and noted the same. Sent the Martini back with another barrel and had him do the spare barrel. He rechambered the 1st barrel to 35 herrett for free.

He returns your project in less than two weeks. A great guy.

I was afraid that was the same guy! By the way, there was a guy in ND doing re-bore. Anyone know of him?
Dan Pedersen, of Classic Barrel and Gunworks, http://www.cutrifle.com/, did one rebore for me. I was quite pleased with the result. You'd have to contact him to see if he relines barrels as well.
Got a recording on his phone, he is down to a 49 gun backlog and it seems he don't want any more calls.
