I can really only guess, the prewar bolt stop. I saw a 1938, made in Germany sold for thirty two on GB, I'm not sure if the link is still live or if I can find it. I didn't see the auction when it was live, my user name should really be hindsight anyway. I was hoping to be informed of how large my fools award should be for acquiring the M-S Premier, I know Blue Book value, "so called" it's not mint.

Now I see two bolt stops, but they aren't the same and I'm not yet sure which one is rare. The link has expired on the "Made in Germany" M-S.

First, let me say that I don't think that you deserve a
"fool's award", your words not mine, for getting that M-S premier.
Most of us here, focus on custom rifles made in the US, and that M-S Premier is not something that I follow, and I don't know if there are many on here that do follow what they go for. It is hard to price items that appear rather infrequently. Is there a Mannlicher collector's website?

In this parts grouping, there is a Mannlicher-Schoenauer 1903 bolt stop and a bolt stop for an 88 commission rifle which is also used on the Mannlicher Haenel. They aren't particularly rare.

Actually, I am grateful to you, when a person posts a link to an
auction in a thread and the link expires, the value of the thread is sometimes lost. So for what it is worth in preserving things for as
long as my photobucket account lasts. The buy-it-now price on the parts grouping above was $60 which included shipping.

Thanks PhysDoc, I'll wait until I can do better than process of elimination. There is an M-S collector's Acc. and I asked someone about it, the carved stock isn't common. I'm learning what a real custom made rifle is. Hopefully I'll get up to speed with photo bucket and computer skills, presently I don't need a smart phone and know nothing about digital cameras either.

This piece was on the left-hand side of the images on ebay.

It's a bolt stop and the body of an adjustable receiver sight, I think, I'll guess that it's intended for the Haenel. At first I thought it might be some sort of sear carrier. I still need to crack a book or do some research to be more certain of it's entirety. I knew that M-S receiver sights in general weren't common, but not the details of them.

You are right, it is a sight base for a Lyman 22 sight. It is intended to replace the bolt stop on either an 88 commission rifle or Mannlicher-Haenel. According to Nick Stroebel's book, it was last produced in 1919. The Lyman 36 sights replaced it. Here is a link to the patent application for this sight.

Thanks PhysDoc, I learned something I wouldn't have otherwise, so this peep sight is intended for either target shooter or service rifle and must be pivoted aside to cycle the bolt. I'll need to learn more about the two rifles, I like books sometimes and have even bought a few lately, they have lots of pictures though. More sporting than target, C.G. Haenel, Haenel-Mannlicher, sporting rifle, 8x57 should search. The rifle has a Lyman #36.

Not reconditioned, maybe old sights are rust blue, newer sights are hot blue. A live link won't seem to post for the rifle with a Lyman #36.

well, I tried, failed, put things away for a while, came back to it and here is what it looks like. It seems to work, now I just need to find an action to test it on, before putting the finishing touches on it.
