how do you get that smooth shine on a silvers pad? I'm baffled!

According to the Galazan website: 1. Buff it with Vaseline. 2. Then coat it with varnish, tru-oil and shellac and let it dry.

Varnish, TruOil and shellac, or .......... varnish, TruOil or shellac?

The Galazan website says “and” but does not elaborate further.

Thanks. That seems like a lot of "stuff", though. I've got a couple newly installed Hawkins pads I need to play with "aging".

Agreed. And I confess I’ve not tried this method so I don’t know about proportions or what the end result looks like.

Straight uncut Tru-Oil works just fine on S.W. Silver pads if you want them shiny & slick. The pads will oxidize & get slick on their own in a year or so but w/ a more subtle shine.

I like Hawkins pads, A black on my Remington 32TC and a red one for my 1894FE.
I have waxed then buffed Tre-Wax, for a nice low shine. Probably I'll use Renaissance Wax also.
