I want to replace the useless factory pad on my No. 1 Tropical in .416 Rigby with a Limbsaver Nitro pad. Does anyone know if it should be the small, med, or large?

Dimensions for the limbsaver pads are readily available on-line. And the dimensions of your stock are readily available as measure by you...

With a .416 Rigby single shot I'd want the thickest Limb Saver they'd sell me and cut wood if necessary to make it fit...SelbyLowndes

Well... i dont know what else to tell you... you have the gun, not all of us.
Just do it the easy way and order a Limbsaver #10001, .......prefitted to the #1!!!
Fits fine and does the job.
I'll measure the one on the bolt action rigby and let ya know. Also look at the slip on accu riser leatherman pads
