Hello, everyone from Old Westerner.

I'm writing for info about a Colt 12 gauge S x S, Model 1878, DOM 1881. This a project gun. Does anybody have a schematic? Or a link to where one is out there on the Internet? Did this model originally have firing pin springs to retract the pins into the receiver? Barrel release lever is loose. Did it originally have a return spring? Maybe a coil spring under the lever screw?

May have more questions later but any help or leads now would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

OW,
I don't have a schematic of the Colt. I have taken them apart a few times when I had a project of my own. The lever return is a small flat V spring, similar to most SxS guns. The firing pins float, no springs. Or at least neither of the two guns I have had springs. The workmanship inside these guns is top rate, inside and out. There is not a lot of mystery in there. Flat springs etc.
Cimmaron sells or sold a Chinese copy that is close enough to get parts from. Finish and fit them as needed.

Good Luck!
