Benelli has been making the 828U for a few years. They announced a left hand opening gun last year and they are finally in the country. I ordered one for a customer and was pleased to find that they open easily and although the architecture is a bit unusual, it is supposed to be a technical innovation in several design aspects. The 28" guns are supposed to weight 6.5 pounds. This specimen weighed 6 lb 2 oz. Not bad for a 3" 12 GA. The drop and cast are adjustable. Drop is adjustable from 42mm to 65mm. The manual says cast is adjustable up to 6mm either way. The customer needed more, so I put two 6mm shims together and got it lined up perfectly for him. Other than the Blaser F3, I don't know of another production gun with left hand opening as an option. I wouldn't mind a 20GA in one of these. Probably they will add one in the future.

I’d bet a 6lb 2oz gun doesn’t see many 3” 12 gauge rounds.

Did you take a few pictures of it? Love to see it.

Ted

YouTube reviews are mostly bad.

A friend bought one for his son I've witnessed all kind of firing/ejecting issues with it....kid pinched his hand on the two long projections sticking off the rear of the barrels.

You would think that Benelli being owned by Berreta could do better than this albatross of an O/Ur shotgun.

Mr.Gun dealer man I have a question for you....beings as you've chosen to flat out deny being a Gun Dealer when selling and advertising your over priced auctions and wares in the for sale section of this site.

How could anyone buy from you an expect an honest answer/representation about anything ?

Just curious....

The world IS changing, but, that one has an, I dunno, for lack of a better description, an “outlander” look that doesn’t appeal to me.

I am beginning to know younger guys that only own one gun for everything, and I bet this would appeal to them.

Try to ignore the clown that dances through your posts. He thinks he owns the place. Last gun photo he put up was of a SBE, also outside the rules.

Ted

Mr.Shite'Fer brainz...that Albatros of a shotgun should very much appeal to you.

It's quite an improvement over your Mossburg pumper or the Darne French slide bolt junker you push.

I find that one ounce of shot, placed properly, is all I need for upland game. I use that in the 12, 16, 20 and 28GA guns. I just came back from a pheasant hunt, 28 birds in the cooler. Life is good. I have no fear of clowns.

Just pity old Joe. He has no money and is so envious of those who do that it is heart-rending to see his pain reflected in jealous rants. My grandfather had a name for feckless, petty, powerless annoying people like him. He equated them to the tiny insects that buzzed around his hound's privates. He called them Pecker Gnats, and that is an appropriate moniker for old Joe.

I see you still can't stop thinking about people that you claim to be IGNORING.

You should try to sell some of that excess estrogen to menopausal women who need hormone replacement therapy. You could probably afford a new bespoke pair of Holland and Holland best guns... every week! Partner up with BrentD, and you two could buy the whole damn company.

Sorry for quoting him. Wish he would put the whole damn place on ignore.

It wasn't enough for Vol423 to get all bent out of shape by someone he claims to be ignoring just one time. He is so obsessed with jOe that he felt the need to go back and modify his post.

Surf's Up!... It's an estrogen tidal wave!

I find it odd a company who totes the inertia operated thing so much would use gas/pressure to actuate the ejectors. You may ask what this has to do with a thread about dick measuring between the usual suspects...well I don’t know.

I have never initiated anything with Homeless Joe. His drivel starts every time I post something.

Homeless Joe has now been joined by Keith in the Pecker Gnat crew.

Now are the flies really noticeable, or do you like looking at dogs peckers?
Now back to the topic.

I've been curious about this gun, but can't quite wrap my head around it's looks, I do love the technology that's in it, but in reality is there any science behind it's claims?
Posted By: builder Re: Benelli 828U Left Hand O/U - 12/11/18 02:18 PM
I have seen only one in use and the owner said he loved it. What else would you say if you just overpaid for a gun you don't particularly care for.

No matter what is claimed nor how much hype you have to try it to see if you like it.
Posted By: Vol423 Re: Benelli 828U Left Hand O/U - 12/11/18 02:29 PM
I'll not defend the gun's looks. But who else builds a 12GA this light, with ejectors, and so many technical features, especially the adjustable stock, and available in left hand? It also has three thicknesses of butt pads and a recoil reducing system in the stock. I don't know how well it will hold up. I shoot traditional side by sides, bespoke to my needs. Each of them cost over three times what one of these guns costs. I was willing to pay for them mostly because I can't get Left Hand guns with Long stocks that are also light weight and that will digest steel shot and 3" shells. This gun can be configured that way by the user. Let's face it, traditional, old technology in firearms was current when my great grandfather traveled by horse and buggy and heated his home with a wood burning fireplace. We have advanced since then. Sporting firearms design should take advantage of advances in technology

No, I just have no use for a con artist.

I totally second that, that aside from looks has me really thinking about it. The only hang up is quality of materials, aluminum, specially formulated barrels, hard to replace that solid feeling of steel. And as cool as it would be to have the "New" nothing can replace that feeling or sound of closing a Parker!

As far as looks go......the mat black version (IMO) is less obtrusive than the silver version.
Posted By: Shotgunlover Re: Benelli 828U Left Hand O/U - 12/11/18 04:34 PM
Whatever the negatives might be about the 828, it has pioneered the way for an OU as easily custtomisable as a modern self loader.

The monocoque receiver allows stock shims for zero cost stock fitting. The lever cocking and impulse ejectors have done away with the tumbler-ejector linkage and the attendant timing problems. It has done away with the abomination called ribs and has a replaceable light carbon fiber rib.

The next step, a steel OU utilising similar features, would be interesting.
Posted By: Vol423 Re: Benelli 828U Left Hand O/U - 12/11/18 05:29 PM
I set this gun up with 14-3/4" LOP, 55mm drop and 12mm Left Hand cast with the shims available with the gun. I doubled two 6mm shims to get the cast. That took 15 minutes. That was a custom fit that cost nothing. If adjustments are needed, they can be done in short order. Compare that to 19th century technology!

Vol423 keeps telling us that he has us on IGNORE. But it is quite obvious that he cannot IGNORE us. This is further proof that most everyone who is thin-skinned and feminine enough to use the IGNORE function is also too thin-skinned and feminine to resist looking at what they claim to be IGNORING.

And it is equally obvious that Vol423 cannot IGNORE his dog's pecker. That's really sick. It must have something to do with the estrogen overload in his system. nca225 would probably pay good money to get some of the excess.

Could someone please give Vol423 another tissue to dry his tears?

How does he feel about Purdey and sleevers?
