Mmm, a John Wright (or maybe Fred Adolph...) stocked Griffin & Howe - very nice Daryl!!!

Which photo handler is that? I need to post some pictures in the next couple days

Lovely rifle and wonderful not do see that "Please Update..." from Photobucket!!!!

I wish I knew who CHM was. The rifle seems to be from 1924, but it is not found in the G and H records.

This pic is from a different photo handling website.

The Springfield was never meant to be a sporting rifle, but G&H made it work. Not much on the carving, but wonderful engraving. Nice old '03 Sporter.

John, thanks for your thoughts. I have always loved carving and engraving. Just a matter of taste. We think Fred Adolph did the stocking during his year or so in New York. Kornbrath did the engraving. The gun is a 30-06 with a 20" barrel, highly engraved grip cap and a trap door metal butt plate. Obviously ordered by someone with a good idea of what they liked and the money to get it.

Thanks, all. I am finding imgur a site much easier to use than photobucket ever was. Here's another pic and I'll get a couple of other details posted while I am at it.

What happens when Imgur goes the route Photobucket just did? Back to square one...

The only solution is for the website to host it's own images, That way they are here for posterity.

You wrote that G & H had no record of the rifle; is that per Bob Beach?
Posted By: Daryl Hallquist Re: griffin and howe - 08/10/17 04:29 PM
Claybird, I cannot remember if it was Bob Beach or an earlier request for information . The rifle barrel has the number 412 . Maybe I should try Bob at this time in case he has dug up more info.

From what I have recently learned, Bob has gone into semi-retirement and may not be doing the majority of G&H research these days... not health-related that I know of.

Photobucket has only halted use for some people. Not everybody.

Stan...photoshop is now ransomware. You're now paying $400 a year for a site that has lost its business model and as pissedoff consumers flee, will lose their advertisers and their company. They will not even be around next year even if you pay their fee now - a last ditch extortion. It's time to exit.

This company made a good living from advertising - millions of clicks - they are now kaput. .no consumer or advertiser will ever trust them.

Claybird, I checked again with Bob Beach, and Griffin and Howe has no record of Rifle 412. I wish they did.

It's only a matter of time Stan.

See that little Third Party Hosting usage gauge? It's over 100%... which is informing the user that his free Third Party Hosting usage allotment has reached his limit. You just posted another image... which puts you one photo closer to reaching your limit. All of the people who have been happily posting pictures just to show that they haven't been blocked are simply putting themselves one step closer to being blocked. You are not immune. When that happens, every image you all have posted here and elsewhere will be gone until you pay the $400.00 per year ransom fee. The next image you post may be your last... unless you pay the ransom.

Some may pay the piper. Most will not pay. Then the scenario Argo44 posted is very likely to become reality. Those images will be gone forever unless Photobucket changes their policy.... which is doubtful now that some people have probably paid the ransom.

When Darryl commented that Imjur is easier to use than Photobucket ever was, I immediately thought the same thing that Recoil Rob said.
