I saw on another site where Walt donated his extensive Ithaca factory records to Cody. They aren't ready for research but will be in the future. Over the years Walt unselfishly and without cost has been able to look up by serial number information on many guns for many folks. Thanks, Walt. Gil

Glad to see the records pass from one set of good hands to another. A good way to ensure they will be preserved for a long time to come.

Walt's extensive research on Sousa Grade Knicks was a great help to me. He has found original ownership provenance on my entire Knick collection. Bill Murphy

Walt is a fine fellow. I've really enjoyed his books and when I mentioned on another forum I owned an NID he looked up the shipping record and sent me a copy. I'm glad to know his records will be in good hands and available for research.

What better stewardship than a museum??

I'm hoping that there is no other reason except stewardship.

What's wrong with the Cody museum? I visited there once while on a family vacation to a local dude ranch, and was greatly impressed by the display. When I had questions, the personnel went out of the way to be helpful...Geo

Whatever the wisdom of passing his research records along to Cody, my hat is off to Walt Snyder for assuring that his knowledge is passed on to posterity. Even if Cody Museum charges for it...Geo

His health!!!!!

He rarely posts anymore. Could be all the infighting too, but.

Walt has been very helpful to me too, on a number of Ithaca's. Great guy!!

Actually, Walt sent his records to Cody over a year ago and when I asked him at that time when he thought the records would be digitalized and ready for Cody to produce records Walt replied "Your guess is as good as mine..."

I have since contacted Cody for some information on a particular Ithaca and I was told that they weren't ready to research any Ithaca's. I asked when they thought they would be 'up and running' and be able to produce letters I was told "Maybe in a year or so?" answered as a question... Yeah, right! I'm sure thinking a lot more than a year.

I hope he gets a big tax deduction

But how do you value a one of a kind set of records

Perhaps by estimating the stream of revue the Cody will get for selling letters and doing other research

However it works out I think it is a great development

Walt was very helpful to me when I did articles on the Ithaca SKB's for Shooting Sportsman. And his contributions here have been of value to a lot of people.

I'm sure you'll enjoy the break.

Walt is a gentleman. After his wife's passing about 10 years ago, he went through a difficult time. As a devout Catholic, he has a deep faith. Above the transom of his front door, he has (had)a Jerusalem Cross that bespeaks his deep faith. He is also a hell of an artist (water colors). A great guy, former chemical engineer.

Does any one have any date ranges for the Ithaca records that have been very generously donated to Cody?

To the best of my knowledge Walt sent all of his Ithaca factory records to Cody.
