Spyros that is an interesting comparison of the penetration/power differential among various shot sizes and guage. My personal 'home defense' weapon is an Remington 870 pump shotgun with extended magazine. It is a 20ga loaded with reduced recoil #4 buckshot.

It shouldn't be a significant danger to those in other parts of my home in case I miss my target if God forbid it ever became necessary to use it. May be beside the point anyway because I do not intend to miss and there will be no warning shot...Geo

Your method with the pillow compresses the pillow so all the air and volume of the feathers are gone. Try using the pillow without compressing it up against the muzzle.

Sorry Spyros but your test on igniting gas with a bullet is seriously flawed. Lead is an inert metal and will not spark irregardless. At the least you must use a copper bullet and better yet a full metal jacketed bullet.

When I was a young lad I was in the country using a 12 ga. shotgun with slugs. I shot a telephone pole. Looking at the backside I was quite shocked. The slug had passed right through and the pole was split so badly I thought it would topple over.

I am glad you did this test. My wife thought the quarters out of the shotgun in resident evil was like the coolest thing. Maybe, except for the quarter part. I told her that is may work with dimes but never quarters due to the simple fact of bore diameter.
