"CEW" is marked on the underside of two shotgun barrells-W R Schaefer and
A G Genez-Breechloaders. Any idea of who this is? The mark is only on the
Left BBL
Thanks

How 'bout CFW Dr. McPhail?

I'm all but positive he was a Georg Lindner subcontractor. I would also add that Schovering, Daly & Gales more than likely were involved.

CFW it is. The Schaefer BBLs are marked with a Crown over A. Genez has no
other under bbl markings
Thanks! .

http://freemycollection.com/?page=manufacturers&id=40&name=A-G-GenezSome info on A.G. Genez but I think the Nov. 1860 date to be in error and it should read Nov. 1880. Sometime between 1875 & 1880 Vincent Bissig acquired the concern.

Thanks for pointing out my typo! I did mean 1880. It is fixed on there now.
Um hum, one of our merry band. You are most welcome.
http://www.doublegunshop.com/forums/ubbt...809d6c860bbaadbDr. Bill have you any additional info on Genez? Did he have a wife by the name of Margaret Genez or a son by the name of Julius B. Genez?

Do not know his wife's name. Had a son George-do not know of
Julius. Have written info-
Genez was noted to make very fine derringers

BTW: Check out the Schaefer case on Ebay:
Schaefer Shotgun Case with maker's label Pretty cool label.
And Bill - you should sell that 8g to me!

The 8 Ga is fairly unique-14lb 33 in. 3.12 in across breech, hinged forarm,
in an original Schaefer labeled case.
Also with L.D.N. on the locks under the hammers-probably one of the biggest
guns Nimschke engraved
And it does have a price=just haven't figured that out yet.

Stumbled across a listing for an early H. Barella(Nr. 1688/2009) with the top rib displaying: H. Barella Konigl. Preussischer Kaiser L. Russischer Hof Buchsenni. Berlin given as a 0.62" calibre with 26 1/4" pattern welded tubes. Accompanying was an additional 30" pattern welded tubeset with A.G. Geynez(I assume to be Genez?), No. 9 Chambers St. N.Y. Haven't found any images just yet.

http://www.doublegunshop.com/forums/ubbt...true#Post291525Just wanted to revive this thread as well as cross reference it to a W.R. Schaefer & Thos. L. Golcher - L. D. Nimschke with a few Belgian proofmarks.
